CONFIDENCE IS NOT GIVEN. IT'S TRAINED

The story

The Marine - Discipline Under Pressure

My name is Wes Mutsaars, founder of Cabin Ready, actor, trainer and aviation professional. After secondary school, I chose a different path and joined the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps.

During ten years of service, I learned to operate under pressure, work as a team and build strong mental resilience. I discovered that performance is not just about strength, but about mindset, focus and control.

The Marines taught me that true growth happens outside your comfort zone, and that discipline and emotional control are essential in high-pressure environments. But perhaps even more importantly, it showed me how crucial communication, presence and authenticity are, because even in the toughest environments, human connection makes the difference.

The Actor – Connection and Communication

Despite the physical and mental challenges, I felt that something was missing. I wanted to play, to discover who I was beyond the identity I had formed as a Marine, and to explore my emotional side. So I started acting. What began as a passion grew into a powerful tool for personal development.

Acting taught me how to connect with myself and with others. For me, connection is one of the most important foundations of effective human interaction, especially in high-pressure environments. This combination of mental strength and emotional awareness became the missing link between performance and authentic communication. I eventually transitioned into professional acting, taking on various roles in film and television. Later, I began working as a training role-play actor and trainer for airlines and other organisations, helping professionals and employees develop the skills needed to manage tension, emotional situations and aggressive behaviour.

The Cabin Attendant – Safety and Service in Action

Ten years ago, I started working as a Cabin Attendant at KLM, a role I now fulfil part-time. Alongside this, I actively work as a trainer and training role-play actor within the aviation industry and other organisations, with over 16 years of experience. In this role, I help professionals train for real-life interactions, focusing on communication under pressure while maintaining both safety and service.

By combining my background in the military, aviation and acting, I developed an unique training approach that helps aviation professionals manage tension, emotional situations and unexpected behaviour in a realistic and practical way. Through Cabin Ready, I aim to share this knowledge and experience with aviation professionals, enabling them to perform with confidence while maintaining both safety and service.
